OIFF winners 2016
The OIFF jury members are pleased to announce the award winners for the 2016 Ouarzazate International Film Festival!
“Getting Fat in a Healthy Way” by Kevork Aslanyan, Bulgaria.
The winner for best fiction – In a world where gravity is weak and skinny people fly into the sky, Constantine has never left the apartment he shares with his father Atanas. But one day the beautiful stewardess who moves into the building will change Constantine’s life forever.
“Corrupt Minds” by Mehdi Elkhaoudy, Morocco.
The winner for best Moroccan short – During the uprising in Arabia, a 50 dirhams bill will live an extraordinary trajectory in the middle of the social Arabic corruptive circles. From the bearded integrist to the bad lieutenant, in the middle of Arabic ghettos and fucked up administrations, to end up the story with the manifestation that will end the… Everything.
“The Last Tar” by Yashin Nahani, Iran.
The winner for best animation – Tar, is name of oldest musical instruments in Iran which were produced by people using special techniques. This instrument was respectful for people and knows it as a mystical instrument.
Story of this animation is about an old man who produces Tar and finally makes a romantic relation with this instrument.
“The Learning Alliance” by Muhammad Umar Saeed, Pakistan.
The winner for best documentary – Collecting garbage for earning and paying their fees for school. Three brothers who are changing their future by studying and at the same time selling garbage in Lahore, Pakistan. The Learning Alliance is a portrait of children with dreams and their struggle towards achieving it.
